Health Insurance for Individuals and Families

Tired of overpaying for health insurance or skipping it altogether? You have more options than you think. Callie shops the full market to find coverage that fits your situation and your budget.

Types of Health Coverage

Health Insurance Options for Every Situation

Health insurance outside of an employer isn’t one-size-fits-all. Your options depend on your income, your health needs, your budget, and how long you need coverage. Here’s how each type works and who it’s best for.

ACA Marketplace Plans (On-Exchange)

Plans sold through the federal or state Health Insurance Marketplace. The only plans eligible for premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions. Open Enrollment runs November 1 – January 15, with Special Enrollments (SEP) available for qualifying life events (QLE).

Off-Exchange ACA Plans

ACA-compliant plans purchased directly from the carrier, outside the Marketplace. Same essential health benefits, same protections but not eligible for subsidies. Best for those who don’t qualify for tax credits and prefer direct carrier enrollment.

Catastrophic Health Plans

High-deductible coverage designed to protect against worst-case scenarios. Available to adults under 30 and those who qualify for a hardship exemption. Low premiums and high deductibles are a safety net for the healthy and the budget-conscious.

Short-Term Medical Plans

Temporary coverage for gaps between major medical plans. Not ACA-compliant but fast to enroll, flexible in duration, and significantly more affordable than COBRA. Ideal for transitions, not long-term solutions.

Standalone Dental & Vision Insurance

Individual and family dental and vision plans are available year-round. Dental covers preventive care, basic procedures, and major services. Vision covers annual eye exams, prescription glasses, and contact lenses.

Indemnity Health Plans

Fixed-benefit plans that pay a set amount directly to you — regardless of what your other insurance pays — when you experience a covered health event. A flexible supplement for gaps in major medical coverage.

What's Covered

ACA Marketplace Plans (On-Exchange)

ACA Marketplace plans are the cornerstone of individual and family health insurance outside of employer coverage. They cover the ten essential health benefits required by law and they’re the only plans that qualify for premium tax credits that can reduce your monthly cost.

All ACA Plans Cover:

  • Preventive and wellness services
  • Emergency and hospitalization
  • Prescription drug coverage
  • Mental health and substance use treatment
  • Maternity and newborn care
  • Pediatric services including dental and vision

ACA Subsidies Are Still Available in 2026

The enhanced tax credits expired January 1, 2026, and premiums increased significantly for many people. But subsidies haven’t disappeared, they’re still available for households earning up to 400% of the federal poverty level (up to $63,840 for a single person, $132,000 for a family of four).

If your premium jumped this year, or you’re not sure where you stand, Callie will run the numbers for you at no cost.

Know Before You Enroll...

  • Open Enrollment runs from November 1 – January 15 each year
  • Special Enrollment Periods are available for qualifying life events: losing job-based coverage, getting married, having a baby, moving to a new state
  • Plans are tiered by metal level: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum
  • Silver plans unlock cost-sharing reductions for qualifying income levels, in many cases the best value on the Marketplace

Our Health Insurance Expertise

As a licensed independent health insurance broker, NavaQuote has access to ACA Marketplace plans, off-exchange carrier options, and alternative coverage solutions that most people don’t know how to find on their own. Callie does the shopping, comparison, and consultation so you don’t have to navigate it alone. NavaQuote specializes in:

Why Work With Callie

Health insurance outside of an employer is one of the most confusing purchases most people ever make. The options are overwhelming, the terminology is confusing, and the stakes (your health and your finances) are as high as it gets.

Callie will tell you what you actually qualify for, show you what it actually costs, and make sure you’re not leaving subsidy money on the table.
During your health insurance consultation, Callie will:

  • Determine whether you qualify for a premium tax credit and how much
  • Compare on-exchange and off-exchange options side by side
  • Walk you through metal tiers, deductibles, and network differences
  • Help you time enrollment correctly around qualifying life events
  • Pair your health plan with standalone dental and vision if needed
  • Review your coverage at every Open Enrollment to make sure you’re still on the best plan

And like everything at NavaQuote, her services cost you nothing. She’s compensated by the carriers, not by you.
