This Privacy Policy explains how NavaQuote LLC ("NavaQuote," "we," "us," or "our") handles personal information in connection with www.navaquote.com, app.navaquote.com, our NavaQuote mobile applications, and related quote requests and customer communications (together, the "Services"). It applies whether you browse, request a quote as a guest, or create an account.
At a glance: We use information to respond to insurance requests, prepare and service applications, maintain accounts, and protect the Services. Insurance requests can involve sensitive information and disclosure to insurers and other participants in the insurance process. You can contact us about your information without signing in. Deleting an account is not the same as canceling a policy.
1. Who is responsible for your information
NavaQuote LLC operates the Services. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected] or call 706-600-8053. Please identify your message as a privacy inquiry. Do not send Social Security numbers, full driver's license numbers, medical records, account passwords, or identity-document images in an ordinary email.
An insurer, another brokerage, or a provider you engage through a separate service may have its own responsibilities and privacy notice. This Policy describes NavaQuote's handling of information; it does not replace a carrier's notice, an applicable insurance financial-privacy notice, or a disclosure or authorization required for a particular transaction. If a more specific notice applies, it governs the processing it specifically addresses.
2. Information you provide
The information requested depends on the insurance product, the feature you use, and the stage of your application. It can include:
- Contact and account information: name, email address, telephone number, address, account identifiers, authentication-related information, and communication preferences.
- Household and applicant information: date of birth, gender, residence, household members, listed drivers, dependents, and information about a business or another person you are authorized to represent.
- Insurance and risk information: requested coverage, existing policies, insurance history, claims or driving history, driver's license details, vehicles and vehicle identification numbers (VINs), property information, and other application answers.
- Health-related information for relevant products: self-reported health information, height and weight, and tobacco, nicotine, vaping, or cannabis use. Do not provide health information unless it is requested for the service you are using.
- Images and documents: a driver's license photograph or other material you choose to upload. A license image may contain a photograph, signature, address, date of birth, license number, and other sensitive details.
- Communications: quote requests, free-text messages, support conversations, callback requests, and related correspondence.
Please provide only information relevant to your request. If you submit another person's information, you must have appropriate authority to do so. Providing information about someone does not, by itself, supply any separate authorization required to obtain that person's consumer reports or health records.
3. Information collected through use and other sources
Our systems receive technical information needed to deliver and protect the Services, such as an IP address, request details, session or account identifiers, and information contained in operational and security logs. We also maintain records of submitted applications and quote activity, including the acknowledgment and preference selections submitted with an application.
We may receive information from the account sign-in provider, insurers, brokerage partners, and insurance-service providers involved in your request. Information returned during quoting can include rates, eligibility information, application status, and requests for additional information.
Where reports such as driving records, claims history, or credit-based insurance information are used, obtaining and using them is subject to the applicable permissible-purpose, disclosure, authorization, and other legal requirements. This Policy is not an authorization to obtain a consumer report.
4. Camera, photo, address, and vehicle features
Where the relevant feature is available in your version of the app, the mobile app can request access to your camera or selected photos when you choose an image or scanning feature. You can manage those permissions in your device settings. Denying permission can prevent that feature from working; where the interface offers manual entry, you can use it instead.
A VIN scan and a license-image upload are different activities. Scanning can populate a VIN for vehicle lookup. If you select or take a driver's license image using an available upload feature, the upload sends an image to NavaQuote's systems; it is not merely stored on your device. The app may resize and re-encode the image before upload. Use the image-removal control where provided, or contact us with a deletion request. Removing one uploaded image does not delete your account or all application information.
When address suggestions are enabled, the address text you enter and a session token are sent through our address-search integration to Google Places; selecting a suggestion retrieves address details. You can enter an address manually when that option is offered. VIN decoding can send the VIN to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-information service. These providers' handling of requests is also subject to their own applicable notices, including Google's Privacy Policy and NHTSA's Privacy Policy.
5. How we use information
We use information as appropriate to:
- Respond to questions, quote requests, and requests for agent assistance.
- Prepare, transmit, review, and service insurance applications and communicate with relevant insurers and brokerage partners.
- Display quotes, eligibility results, application status, and saved information.
- Create and maintain accounts, authenticate users, synchronize saved answers, and connect guest activity with an account when you use the relevant account features.
- Deliver requested communications and administer communication preferences; send marketing communications only as permitted by applicable law and any required consent.
- Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and protect the Services; investigate misuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Maintain business and transaction records, comply with applicable legal duties, respond to lawful requests, and establish or defend legal claims.
A quote is not a guarantee of eligibility, price, or coverage. See our Insurance & Licensing Disclosures.
6. When information is disclosed
Information may be disclosed for the purposes described in this Policy to the following categories of recipients:
- Insurers and insurance participants: insurers, appointed or assisting brokers and agents, and other providers involved in evaluating, placing, underwriting, or servicing the insurance you request. The information disclosed depends on the transaction. NavaQuote's property-and-casualty business includes a relationship with Blanchard Insurance, as described in our disclosures.
- Service providers: providers supporting hosting, infrastructure, authentication, storage, communications, customer relationship management, and other operational functions. For example, website quote-request notifications can be delivered to our team through Bird's email service.
- Lookup providers: address and vehicle-information providers when you use the relevant features, as described above.
- Recipients you authorize: a person or organization you direct us to communicate with, subject to appropriate verification and legal requirements.
- Legal and protective recipients: regulators, courts, law-enforcement authorities, professional advisers, or other recipients when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud, or resolve disputes.
- Business-transaction participants: advisers and potential or actual successors in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of our business, subject to applicable confidentiality and privacy requirements.
Not every recipient acts solely on our behalf. Insurers and other independent businesses may use information under their own legal obligations and privacy notices. The legal meanings of "sale," "sharing," and "targeted advertising" differ by jurisdiction. If an applicable law gives you a right to restrict a disclosure or use, you can submit a request through Privacy Requests. We assess the request under the law applicable to the information and activity. Any additional notice or opt-out rights required for a particular disclosure apply independently of this Policy.
7. Cookies, device storage, and account synchronization
The website and web app use cookies or similar storage for functions such as presentation preferences, sessions, authentication, and remembering information. The apps also store draft answers and account-related information on your device. The native app encrypts its local draft cache using a key held in the device's secure storage. The web app's browser draft cache is not encrypted by the application. These local-storage measures do not describe every server or third-party system. Someone with access to an unlocked device or browser profile may be able to access saved information.
Guest use does not necessarily mean device-only use. Submitting information, using online lookup features, requesting assistance, or uploading an image can send information to our systems or relevant providers before you create an account. Signing in can associate and synchronize guest answers or quotes with your account.
You can use browser or device controls to restrict cookies, clear local storage, or change permissions. Doing so may remove local progress or interfere with sign-in and other features. Clearing a browser, uninstalling the app, or signing out does not by itself delete server-side records or close an account. This Policy does not treat acceptance of the Terms as consent to advertising tracking.
8. Retention and security
Retention depends on the information, the insurance transaction, our relationship with you, and applicable legal and business requirements. Relevant considerations include completing and servicing a request, insurance recordkeeping, tax and accounting duties, fraud prevention, complaint handling, limitation periods, and legal holds. Different records can therefore be retained for different periods.
A deletion request can be subject to those requirements. We may need to retain a limited record of the request and our response. Information retained under a legal obligation is not necessarily removed when an account is closed; third parties may also have their own retention obligations. See Privacy Requests & Account Deletion for the request process.
We use safeguards intended to protect personal information, but no internet transmission, storage system, or security measure is completely secure. We do not guarantee absolute security. Protect your device and sign-in credentials, avoid using shared devices for sensitive applications, and contact us if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
9. Choices and privacy rights
Depending on your residence, the information involved, and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to or a copy of information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, withdraw a consent, or restrict certain processing or disclosures. Some laws also provide appeal rights, authorized-agent procedures, or protections against unlawful discrimination for exercising privacy rights. Insurance, financial, and health information may be subject to different rules or exemptions; those rules do not necessarily apply to every activity or every record.
Use our Privacy Requests page to submit a request or ask about a decision. We may need proportionate verification before disclosing or changing information. We will apply any response deadlines, explanations, appeal procedures, and other obligations required by the applicable law. Withdrawing permission for one activity does not automatically withdraw permission for another or cancel an insurance policy.
For communication preferences, see Communications & SMS Terms. A browser setting does not necessarily communicate a legally effective request for every type of processing. Where applicable law requires recognition of an opt-out preference signal, that requirement controls.
10. Adults, dependents, and geographic scope
The Services are intended for adult users seeking insurance-related services in the United States. Individuals must be at least 18 to create their own account. The Services are not directed to children under 13, and children should not create accounts or submit information themselves.
An authorized adult may nevertheless need to provide information about a child, dependent, or other household member for an insurance request. We distinguish that information from a child's independent use of the Services. Contact us if you believe a child has independently submitted information or if you have a concern about dependent information.
The Services are operated for the US market. Use from another country does not mean that insurance is offered there; information may be processed in the United States or in locations where a relevant service provider operates, subject to applicable legal requirements.
11. Changes and how to contact us
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Services, practices, or legal requirements. The document's version and effective date identify the current text. Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent for a change, we will provide or obtain it; publication of a revised policy alone does not replace that requirement.
For questions, requests, or concerns, contact NavaQuote LLC at [email protected] or 706-600-8053. You can also start with our privacy-request instructions. Please keep an initial inquiry limited to the information needed to identify your request.
